As if I didn't feel old enough already..

I leave on a quick 1 day business trip today, gimped out or no, and in the mean time I thought I'd share this thought:

AHHH! Where does the time go? How can this be happening?!!!

You see. Littlest brought home her paperwork for Senior pictures to be taken over the summer and info for doing her senior quotes for next years yearbook and such. My mind flashed on through the year to the endless organizing, testing, renting cap and gown, seeing her walk up to get that piece of paper that declares her free. (Which made me tear up a whole year in advance ) And a few months later she will be legally free to make her final decision on her future. I asked her to wait two more years and go to school before she makes that decision.  But it's up to her and she's leaning toward, "I want to get on with it.". We shall see,  so for now...

But...But...But....She's My Littlest!
Isn't she twelve? I'm pretty sure the last time I looked she was twelve.

How's time treating you?

  1. I hear you - my baby is almost 15. Wait till you add 'nanna' to your name then you really know you're old, old, old and time speeds up even more.

Hope your trip goes well :-)

    1. The Seamonkey and I were discussing that the other day. We already have Nanny and Pop picked out because, by coincidence, that's what we both called our grandparents. But we think it may be awhile unless we count all our 4 legged grandchildren at Biggests house ; )

    2. Funny, I'm actually Nani Fi (as in Nanny McFee from the movie - my boys bestowed this name on me with lots of humour) Never say never - ours was most unexpected

    3. Oh I know, My personal 'never' resulted in 3 children ; ) The only one actively excited about babies someday is my youngest at this point and hopefully that will stay a 'someday' for a few more years!

  2. Yes! Same here...well, I'm dealing with the same issues (senior pictures, etc.) with my oldest...but still. I'm feeling overwhelmed with it all.

    Have a safe trip!

  4. Hah! My oldest grandchild is a junior in college and will turn 21 next year. My son turns 45 this year. I sometimes wonder how they all got so old when I'm still so young!

    1. I does happen over and over. But the last one is the one where you feel all yourself sucking away in a puddle feeling like your melting while someone stands over you with a wand trilling, "You Have No Power Here." ; )

  6. oh MY. ellerie just graduated from preschool this morning. worse part is that i'm not really sad at all about her being done with that, but i bawled my eyeballs out because i'll miss her teachers, who i have grown to know and love over the past 6 years, and am a little scared about my own future.... every stage brings with it some joy to replace what is lost, i do believe. something accomplished, something gained to ease our grip on what we'll miss. so what if that growth is watered with sweat and tears. i doubt there is another healthy way.

    1. To be honest, I can't wait either. I've Been Waiting For Years! At the same time it comes up and hits you like a brick on the back of the head. I homeschooled my oldest in high school and that pretty much made me want to retire early ; )

  8. You poor thing, I know how you feel. I agree with you, that she should wait a couple of years to make that major decision... if it's the one I'm thinking it might be. A couple of years can make a big difference in maturity.

    1. You hit it right on the head Ms. A. She is actually very mature but I do think that such a serious decision should have a little more life experience behind it. However, her determination tends to outweigh everything She is very eager to get this highschool stuff out of the way and embark on her carefully laid out life plan.
