Yeah. And Don't Forget My LifeAlert Pendant.

or,
To Quote Shel Silverstein

"I tripped on my shoelace, and I fell up."

Over the past thirty years I have injured my ankle:

Falling down on roller skates.
Falling down steps (2 whole steps)
Walking down a mountain.

and...now...

On Tuesday I was sitting cross legged on the ground and as I proceeded to gracefully rise UPWARD in one fluid motion from the ground....something went terribly wrong.

I tried to ignore it but by Wednesday it became apparent that...

This great fall from a distance of approximately 1 foot off  the ground had resulted in:

Sprained Right Ankle

and

                                                    Strained/Twisted Left Knee

Further aftermath of this curious incident has been a peculiar behavior pattern in Middlest and Littlest:

Telling their mother to go sit down and relax and quit doing stuff.

I actually heard this as I was slowly sneaking down the stairs.

"Is she up again?!"

"YES!"

"Mom! Go Lay Down!"

I could get used to this.

Oh. And Biggest called. She asked if they should start saving up for my Hoveround.

I had to sneak off to write this post. Next time I make a break for it I'll visit blogs.

  2. Oh honey, I am so sorry! That really is no laughing matter. Stay off of your feet and keep that ankle elevated (higher than your heart). I hope it heals fast!

  3. Oops, milk this for all it's worth, it's nice to be babied by loved ones. Hold out for devils food cake with cream cheese frosting, then get well quick. Hugs.

  4. oh, praying for quick mending! (but quick mending that you can keep hidden from your girls, so they continue to fuss over you and your horrific injuries indefinitely!)

    1. Thanks Elissa: )We'll see how long it lasts. The pain of giving birth to them seems to have run out about the time they hit Middle School!

  5. I'm so sorry you're hurt - I hope you feel better soon. That's one of the best things about the kids getting older - having them help US when we're not feeling well!

Getting older stinks, doesn't it? If it makes you feel better a few years ago I was doing laundry and walked into the laundry room with my arms piled high with the sheets I had just stripped off the beds. Unfortunately, I couldn't see over the huge pile of sheets and I stepped on a plastic coat hanger which was on the floor of the laundry room. I went flying, sheets went flying, and the end result was that I broke my elbow. Such an embarrassing story to tell in the ER. It should have been something exciting like a skiing accident...*sigh*

    1. You have a good point, though my knees insist on aging ten times faster than the rest of me. I do have to say that if I look as good as you when I'm 70+ I'll be putting flags and hooga horns on my Hoveround so that no one misses me : )

  7. Get them to bring you books! Then you won't be bored, and you can milk it as long as you so desire.

    1. I did get them to return some to the library. I've managed to get myself into a 540 page maze with The Pale King, that it will take me awhile to get out of.

    1. I think little things like that can hurt more than big things. With this I felt, oops, that doesn't feel right, but I've been brought to tears stubbing my toe!

  10. In general news: I have a poject I must be present for this morning, so I am braced up and ready to go. Wish me luck! My page is behaving like it's stuck in a quagmire for me this morning and I don't know if it's my computer or the page. Anyone stopping by, please let me know if you have any issues with slow loading : )

  11. I think everything posted made a bunch of sense.
But, what about this? suppose you composed a catchier
post title? I am not suggesting your content isn't solid, however suppose you added a title that makes people want more? I mean "Yeah. And Don't Forget My LifeAlert Pendant.
" is kinda boring. You should peek at Yahoo's home page and watch how they write post titles to get people interested. You might try adding a video or a related picture or two to grab readers excited about what you've got to say. In my opinion, it could make your posts a little livelier.
